- Level 2 qualification is equivalent to GCSEs
- Level 3 to A-levels
- Level 4 to a higher national certificate (HNC)
- Level 5 to a foundation degree
- Level 6 to a bachelor’s degree.
Each level supports progression, helping learners advance their knowledge and responsibilities, while employers can align roles with the appropriate qualification level.
Costs vary depending on the course and provider, but many childcare apprenticeships are fully funded through government schemes, making them a cost-effective option for both learners and employers. Diplomas may involve fees, although funding options, grants, or payment plans are often available to help manage the cost.
After completing your apprenticeship or diploma, you could work as a nursery practitioner, teaching assistant, childminder, or early years educator. With experience, you may progress to roles such as room leader, nursery manager, or specialist support worker. For employers, it’s an opportunity to develop and retain skilled staff who can grow within the organisation.
