The Level 4 Children, Young People and Families Practitioner (Community) Apprenticeship is designed to help learners develop the knowledge, skills, and behaviours needed to work with children, young people, and their families in community settings. From early years and education to youth services, youth justice, and family support, this course extends knowledge of the social care sector to take careers one step further while empowering young lives.

Over 18 months, learners will enhance their learning within their specific social care role through a combination of face-to-face and online training. Individuals will also dedicate a minimum of six hours per week to off-the-job training, building knowledge, skills, and behaviours through online learning, digital resources, one-to-one support, and workplace assessment.

There are two parts to the Level 4 Children, Young People and Families Practitioner (Community) apprenticeship. Alongside the standard monthly layout for this course, learners will also build a Level 4 Higher Education Certificate through our partnership with De Montfort University Leicester. Delivered by industry experts through 32 weekly workshops, learners will complete a further four modules to enhance their learning: Lifespan (0–18 years), Safe Practice, Safe Spaces, Child Study, and Professional Practice. At the end of the apprenticeship, the End-Point Assessment will be conducted by an independent assessor through an observation of practice and a competency interview. Upon successful completion, learners will be awarded a Level 4 Higher Certificate in Working with Children, Young People, and Families.

To undertake this apprenticeship, learners must have been a UK, EEA, or EU resident for at least the last three years. Additionally, if you are aged 16 to 18 and do not have a Level 2 qualification or equivalent (GCSE grade 4/C) in Maths and English, you will be required to work towards achieving these qualifications as part of your apprenticeship.
